Videoleap’s AI Backgrounds feature enables small businesses to create professional e-commerce videos with minimal effort. The tool transforms complex segmentation technology into a simple solution, offering one tap background removal, generative background replacement matching original lighting and shadows, and a template based ad generator with synchronized music, texts and transitions. It enables marketers to produce studio-quality product videos directly from mobile, without professional editing expertise.
Videoleap is a video editing app with advanced tools like layers, masks, effects, and transitions, along with a feed of user-created templates for quick video creation, and generative AI tools for automated edits and creative effects. It features a user-friendly interface for both beginners and professionals. When we began developing AI Backgrounds, Videoleap strategically shifted its focus to small business users, e-commerce particularly, driven by data showing that business owners had significantly higher paid conversion rates (9.7% compared to 3.5% for other users, as shown in the graph).

User research revealed e-commerce SMBs users see content creation as a means to sell products. Unlike content creators, another segment of our audience, who focus on the visual result and value the creation and exploration process, SMBs users need straightforward and holistic solutions to create quality content without investing substantial time.
“The whole purpose of it is to be quick & easy, and not put time into it. I’ve played around with the editing side and I just don’t have time and patience to sit down and edit something in depth”,
summarized one of the research participants. This insight guided the development process to better meet the needs of our SMBs target audience.
E-commerce SMBs struggle to produce professional product visuals for their online platforms. Hiring studios or traveling for photoshoots is expensive and time-consuming, leading many to photograph products at home or in their business, often resulting in visuals that lack a professional and inviting appearance. From online research we conducted on small e-commerce businesses websites, e-shops and social media pages, we identified a popular recurring use case: showcasing products with minimal movement, primarily rotating in place, with a static background.
